Review of The Mission (1986) by Liam M — 29 May 2008
A powerful and moving story that is bumped up a notch by Morricone's spectacular score, the glorious sights of South America and the effective yet nicely understated work of two brilliant actors. At just under two hours it doesn't overstay its welcome, and while it might have been nice to have spent a little more time to get to know the characters, the overall epic beauty of the film is the real reason to see it.
Very good.
