Review of The Mission (1986) by Messiah R — 21 Oct 2008
When I first saw this I was expecting some adventure full of swordfights and the like. Primeraly because I'd looked at the cover and not read what it was about. It wasn't an adventure full of swordfights.
I seem to remember DeNiro spending a good 30mins of screen time lugging a sack full of stuff up a wet mountain side in a rather heavy handed metaphor about releasing ones burden of sin or some such. Still, I got through it and ended up really loving it.
And the score is a classic.
