Review of The Misfits (1961) by Sarah C — 04 Mar 2010
Highly underrated film. John Huston is a great director and after reading the back story of how this film almost did not get made, he deserves a lifetime award for patience. Marilyn Monroe at that time was an alcoholic and she did not make life easy on anyone on the set.
Despite all that, she was still beautiful on film. She might not be the most talented actress but she held her own with Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift. Gable was very good too and the ending of the film was excellent.
I am not sure if I would consider this film a Western but it is definitely a modern Western.
