Review of The Miracle Worker (1962) by Chris W — 26 Jan 2009
Committed performances from Bancroft(never better) and Duke(simply extraordinary)help lift this otherwise basic, by the numbers true story into must see territory. Watching the two actresses knock 7 shades of shit out of each other(both actors threw real punches), you really get a sense of the incredible patience and strength that both the real women must have needed.
Helen Keller's story is compelling, beautifully shot in black and white, and ultimatley a remarkable film experience.
