Review of The Mighty Ducks (1992) by Kason M — 07 Jun 2009

This is a weird movie and I'll tell you why. It's a stereotypical sports movie that we've seen over and over and over and over, just replace hockey with football or basketball or soccer or any other sport and its the exact same movie as most every other sport movie. It was horribly predictable, with a throw-away love sub plot and some of the kid actors weren't all that good at acting.

So why did I love this movie so much? I really don't know. Maybe its the heart and spirit it had, maybe its because the characters are all so likable, or that most of them are played expertly. Maybe it was the fantastic better-then-it-has-any-right-to-be score. Its probably all those things and more.

Point is, this is a classic that I can re-watch over and over and over, despite it being no different then any other boring throw-away sports movie.
