You know going into this exactly what's going to happen, but the most important thing to pay attention to in this movie is not the obvious ending, but the way the two main characters interact and learn from each other.
The first time I saw this, I went into it expecting to be overwhelmed with pity for Kevin. Not the case. For me, this movie is more about Max and his growth from awkward, angry outcast to a young man with a great handle on his emotions and his creativity.
This is a great family film.
