Review of The Midnight Meat Train (2008) by Julian T — 06 Jul 2010
A suprisingly gripping and well done horror movie. A pretty simple premise, but pulled off with serious directorial style. Its cinamatography, dark lighting and camera angles keep its viewers on edge. Well written and acted, Vinnie Jones creates a terrific and brutal villian who is realistic enough to give anyone the creeps.
Based on the short story by Clive Barker, it is a very accurate and true adaptation. Unfortunatly, the last 5 minutes of the film are so head scratching that they nearly ruin the well crafted hour and a half that preceeded it, but even with its strange and unneccisary twist ending, this is a streamlined and edgy horror movie that deserves alot more credit than it gets.
