Review of The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (2017) by Cokronakan — 08 Nov 2018
This movie had that old school movie vibe, which was combined with the most agglomerated and new-like city, and the perfect balance was found. The director was casual, but the cinematography had that old theatrical feel.
The writing was so amazingly complex but still mundane. The characters where each very developed and written complexly, emotionally and detailed as possible. Although they had this simple lives, and every day problems the writing helped the already brilliant actors to pass over the feeling of every day problems, and their magnitude to the audience.
The actors performance, was amazingly detailed and complex, no short of a masterpiece. All of them, massive respect so 10/10 for the acting and script. The humor was also good and very daily fashioned.
It had no pacing issues because of the 'to the subject' styled directing. The plot was not complex at all, but it was nothing short of an emotional roller coaster, and very immersive messages where sent through the characters.
So overall this is an amazing movie, which feels fresh in this new all running world, and although the plot is simple the message of it is very strong indeed. It's not a 10/10 drama mainly because the conclusion is missing, and left to the viewers imagination.
