Review of The Mexican (2001) by Archibald T — 19 Sep 2009
A mixed bag of violence and comedy about a man who works for a mob boss and is sent to retrieve a pistol called The Mexican. Pitt and Roberts aren't in every scene together and for some reason I liked that because it makes their relationship with one another quirky without being overall distant.
It's the relationship between Gandolfini and Roberts that is the most amusing and a little sad too. Verbinski's direction is done very well and the comedy boards on the dark to the deadpan type.
Even though it's a bit long, it works.
