Review of The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) by Marcus Y — 20 Jan 2008
Caught most of this film on TV last night, but from what I saw I was quite impressed by the casting and direction - very stylised imagery and use of John Malkovich to be his weird self! Joan's moaning did annoy me at some points, but not as much as the English being portrayed as evil constantly! Apart from that it was well shot, with the battle scenes being particularly gruesome and comprehensive.
Not bad at all for what was supposed to be a terrible film.
