Review of The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) by Lucas Y — 05 Sep 2008
(9-06-08) This is the story of Joan of Arc, a young girl who claims to hear the voice of god telling her to save France. I've always been interested in this story but I have yet to find a good movie about it.
After seeing this movie I can still say I haven't seen a good movie about Joan of Arc. Milla Jovovich does a decent job as Joan, but the script is terrible and most of the other actors are horrible.
Most of the French don't even have french accents but american. At times I felt like I was watching a high school play. I struggled to pay attention for the whole span of this movie, I think I'll check out the other Joan of Arc movie that was released the same year on T.
V. hopefully it has more to offer than this one.
