Review of The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) by Seth K — 13 Jan 2009
Listless Joan of Arc yarn. Many of the battles have an irreverent, choppy, MTV feel, which is odd for a movie that wants to be taken seriously. Despite appearing in the film for less than 15 minutes, Dustin Hoffman steals every scene he's in, returns them, then steals them again.
Director Luc Besson and Jovovich ended a romantic relationship during filming, which may explain the final 10 minutes of the film.
