Sadly, beautiful cinematography can't make up for a badly written script. I can't completely suggest that you pass on The Messenger, but I'd definitely suggest that you keep your expectations low.
I really wanted to enjoy this film more than I did. Surprisingly, it's almost entirely lacking in the one thing that the story of Joan of Arc should have in spades - heart.
