Review of The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) by Line Marie S — 28 Jul 2009
The first thing that hits me - this film is so scary! It depicts a religious atmosphere that is bonechilling and so intense, I got terrified. And the violence is unsensored, harsh and heartless. Add that to huge amounts of complicated psychology, and a woman who dresses up as a man to take on an army or two - all because she is convinced (and if you see it, - you'll probably get convinced too) that she is a Godsend messenger, sent to planet Earth to save France from the English.
Heavy armour, yeaaaah.. o_O A mighty film, not be endured in solitude. If you want to see this, fetch a close friend and impertinent amounts of popcorn... (but then again, you'll have yo try and keep it down).
Recommended age: 16+ (in my opinion).
