Review of The Messenger (2009) by Jim M — 02 Jun 2010
If you like any of the recent war drama movies ( Hurtlocker) then this one is for you. opposed to the Hurtlocker, The messenger covers the results of war but in a different aspect such as not really the solider himself, but the life he left behind and the ones who are left to deal with picking up the pieces.
Ben Foster plays a solider who is transfered to work along side Woody Harrelson, Who plays a hard headed unemotional Sergent whos only goal is to do this: Tell the first of kin there son/husand/daughter/ mother has been killed. Then get the hell out of there. Easier said then done right?! This movies shows a deep and dark side on both fronts.
This movie shows the realness of what its really like and not the wishy washy I am a hero theme.
A great movie although I thought that half way threw the movie it could of moved better or ended differently.
