Review of The Messenger (2009) by E F — 02 Jun 2010
Knowing the premise, you would imagine that informing families that their loved ones have been killed in Iraq would be very traumatic and emotionally damaging to the families' lives, and, as expected, this is what this movie aims to show.
And you might think the people whose job it is to inform the families would either be hardened by their job, or they would learn sympathy because of their job. And, as expected, this movie has one messenger that is hardened and one messenger that is sympathetic.
So, this movie does what you expect it to do, but if you are looking for the unexpected, this is movie is not going to give you that.
