Review of The Messenger (2009) by Joel A — 06 Jun 2010
I was not familiar with Ben Foster before watching this movie. I hope he can get more roles like this where he can show what great acting ability he has.
Woody Harrelson needs nothing to prove he can act and he is an amazing actor. He's come a long way from Woody Boyd who kept Cheers on the air for years after it should have been canceled.
Steve Buscemi who I didn't know had a small part in this movie just thrills us more and more each time he pops up in another film.
The story here of The Messenger is a sad concept which makes the viewer think about the horrors of war and the military. Why the world just can't get along (too many God's?) but we also feel the pain of our characters doing a job that no one should ever have to do.
