Review of The Messenger (2009) by Jason M — 15 Jun 2010
Superbly done film with an all-star cast with many familiar faces. This film should be shown at film schools because not only does it deal with the psychological effects of war on soldiers and their loved ones esp when they don't return home, but more importantly it focuses on core human emotions.
How do you deal with death, love and family? They are each explored brilliantly by the cast. Woody Harrelson definately deserved his Oscar nod - that was some brilliant work. The Messenger is nothing like The Hurt Locker so don't even try to compare the two.
Both are, however, definitely worthy of your rental queue.
