Review of The Messenger (2009) by Noah E — 30 Oct 2010
A film that is really made by the authenticity of the two lead parts. The subject at hand is raw and a terrible confrontation portrayed beautifully. The movie was made by the gripping performances of Harrison and Foster.
The script was well done and ranged from funny to incredibly tense and heartfelt. Though not with the same effectiveness and overall poignancy as other films of a similar nature such as The Hurt Locker, The Messenger hits a slightly more comic and less serious vein while achieving a relatively close level of touching realism.
The Messenger makes a lot of a small cast and a great script and produces a number of powerful performances worth seeing.
