Review of The Messenger (2009) by Tor M — 04 Oct 2011
This took me a bit by surprize, at least the plot. Basically it's not about war or solider stuff at all, it's about the true victims of America - parents losing their kids in battle.
The two leads does great, and especially Woody is outstanding. The characters, starting off so unpersonal and different, slowly but steady get to know each other and the character building and their bounding may be the strongest feature with this film. The film is a bit typical, and there is not a perfect movie to watch for entertainment as it feel quite flat.
It's touching, quite sentimental and also very relevant. The questions about war and political things are put a side. It's about people, and how they deal with their emotions. That's the real story going on here.
