Review of The Merry Gentleman (2008) by Cem "Regi" "Pixelmannen" . — 26 May 2011
Stylistically The Merry Gentleman is very understated. It works mainly as a character study and chance for Keaton and Macdonald to create two compelling and broken characters. At times it feels like there is more beneath the surface here, and I wish Keaton and his screenwriter pushed the film and explored the relationship between these characters farther, but The Merry Gentleman is a nice break from the typical paint-by-numbers fare this could have turned into.
