Review of The Mechanic (2011) by Alex R — 29 Jun 2011
I've very picky about remakes. Usually they fail to deliver something entertaining and thrilling. But in the case of the Charles Bronson classic, I thought this was an entertaining film that delivered some awesome action.
Although nothing can't beat the original and no one can touch Charles Bronson, Jason Statham does a good job at filling big shoes. This film is by far one of the most exciting action films of 2011, and despite its few flaws, it offers a non stop roller coaster ride.
This is one of Stathams best roles as I find him fairly hit and miss. Though this is a good enough remake, I like everyone else prefer the original. This remake is a good action film for what it is, but like every other remake, it copies the original and there are many scenes that echo the original film.
The Mechanic remake is an exhilarating action film that is among the better remakes around, not a perfect film, but good enough to enjoy a solid hour and a half of good entertainment. The Mechanic is explosive entertainment, it's a roller coaster ride of action and thrills.
The film overall is a good upgrade to the Charles Bronson classic, but of course nothing beats the original.
