It seems like The Mechanic either wanted to be a movie about the art and philosophy of assassins with some action thrown in or it wanted to be an action movie about hit men with some of insight into their world but ended up not quite achieving either one fully.
There was some decent action and the acting was ok but it ultimately felt like something was missing. I did really like the scenes when Jason Statham was giving Ben Foster instruction on being a mechanic.
Also, I liked how the ending of the movie and how Arthur set things up.
