Review of The Mechanic (2011) by Indiana J — 06 Apr 2012
A Jason Statham film begins with the premise of Jason Statham's status as a musclebound demigod, a lethal weapon of unstoppable destruction. It is the peril of others around him that drives the tension, and only the increase of odds to be overcome can drive his action films to successful conclusions - such as the delectable dystopia of Death Race or the bleak betrayals of the Transporter franchise.
As little more than a glorified hitman, The Mechanic gives us nothing to care about.
