Review of The Mechanic (1972) by Arin D — 18 Dec 2009
A strange little film with a bloodless core. Charles Bronson as a laconic hitman. All right. Charles Bronson picking up a blonde 'protege' - rather camp. But anyway, if you like utterly cynical films about hitmen and their acolytes, presaging 'Assassins', then you should see it.
I saw it because I couldn't sleep. The trip to Italy at the climax of the film (if you do see it) - makes no sense. If you want to kill someone you can have ferried to your fortress home at your whim, why bother sending them to Naples and then send a hit squad to eliminate them in such picturesque locales? Is there tax credit for having someone liquidated abroad?
