Review of The Mechanic (1972) by Frank — 06 Aug 2010
Solid film from director Michael Winner. Gritty story of a hitman and his protege. This is not your "hitman with a heart" kind of film. Script writer Lewis John Carlino gives you two characters who don't apologize for their work.
You get more character development from watching the characters react to situations rather than some long exposition about their backstory. Jan-Michael Vincent gives a pretty stale performance but Charles Bronson shines.
If you liked movies such as Ronin, you will enjoy The Mechanic.
