Review of The Maze Runner (2014) by Sarah C — 25 Jun 2015
For once, a film that can be categorized as 'better than the book'. Ball does a fine job with the script and with some powerful acting and shocking scenes of true Darwinian worth, Maze Runner can keep an audience engaged.
Though the emotion connection between O'Brien and Scodelario can seem wooden at times and Poulter's aggression false and weak, the plot left me hungry enough to want to know what happened next, myself resorting to the books.
May the next movie deliver as powerful and well-paced a story. As a dystopian series, this opening definitely hits the mark.
