Review of The Matrix Reloaded (2003) by Thomas A — 23 Nov 2012

Matrix Reloaded picks up where we left off, elbow deep in a war between man and machines, illustrating the desperate nature of the human race and the hope that Neo instills into this thriving community.

Now, whether this film is better than the first or not, I'd have to debate that. But, this movie is excellent in its own right and delivers as a sequel to an already perfect cinematic experience. As a continuation, this film takes all the great things from the first film and improves upon them, with new concepts and characters that warp your realities with their own rules and abilities that you are all too excited to learn about.

Now, with the return of the extraordinary things that go on in this world, there is also the return of the cartoony special effects and the several moments where you simply need to suspend disbelief and enjoy this for what it is.

Also, I believe this film was lacking a truly exciting climax, mainly, due to the long talk with the "Architect", who delivers a dialogue with Neo that is simply perplexing and almost confusing in a brilliant way.

Again... Is this film better than its predecessor? No. But, it's still a great time with an awesome story and a great way to keep the ball rolling for an amazing sequel! I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoyed the first film.
