Review of The Matrix Reloaded (2003) by Awais S — 29 Aug 2012
Reloaded is the Attack of the Clones of the Matrix series; it's not good, it's not bad, it's made up of particularly undramatic action scenes, and it thinks it's saying more than it actually is (whereas the first Matrix had some genuinely interesting ideas to throw at us).
There's a scene where Neo fights hundreds of Agent Smiths....it starts out pretty cool, but it just keeps going and going and going and going. That's how Reloaded is in the broader context. I was excited at first; I really wanted to know what happened after the first movie, but it devolves into ironically boring action scenes and even more boring philosophical jargon that just sounds like crap to me (and I was open to the Cave Allegory stuff in the first movie because that's a legit idea that makes genuine sense).
It's pretty fun I guess, and I do suggest it over Revolutions (the third movie), but stick to the first one if you ask me.
