Review of The Matrix Reloaded (2003) by Trevor R — 27 Oct 2014
The problem with the "Matrix" sequels, is that they are clearly one movie stretched into two. The ratio between action and story is just all out of balance, as very little of import actually takes place here.
Plus, the Zion stuff is all genuinely awful, and there's a terrible overuse of completely CGI people in a lot of the action sequences. There's some good ideas at work here though (particularly the extremely clever evolution of the One/prophecy mythology), and it's worth watching for the chateau fight and the freeway chase sequences alone, but it's just not as tightly constructed as the first go.
