Review of The Matrix (1999) by Clay E — 07 Oct 2014
The Matrix is a tightly crafted, oft parodied philosophical-action film that is much better than its sequels want you to think. Sure, it's riddled with extensive exposition and clichéd bloviating (I'm looking at you, Morpheus), but there's a heightened reality throughout that forgives most of this.
A watershed film with breathtaking action and technical brilliance. Groundbreaking in 99, and holds up to this day.
