Review of The Matrix (1999) by Campbell P — 25 Mar 2015
The Matrix is revolutionary to me now even after 16 years of its initial release! This film is incredible on so many levels and appealed to me so much. The graphics and atmosphere are totally groundbreaking! Definitely some of the best special effects I've ever seen in film.
The Matrix has a really complex story, it was layered with a lot of detail and thought but easy to follow for sure. The dialogue is really depended on throughout for sure and it really is awesome the way that characters go back and forth.
It's really bold and stand out dialogue. The acting in this movie was fantastic! The best in my opinion was Laurence Fishburne overall. He had the best scenes, dialogue, and acting really. Keanu Reeves also really stole the show too, he goes from being doubtful of what he's capable of to believing in himself and what he can really do.
All the machinery and technology was really fascinating and only made the environment cooler. The villain was SO good. He brought (or rather they in some ways) so much frustration and anger to the characters as well as myself for sure.
When the conflicts are all resolved I punch the air because of how it all turns out. The fight and action scenes are incredible especially the last scenes of the movie. The fighting is choreographed pretty well and was clearly really fun to watch.
This film really had a lot to offer and didn't disappoint one but. The Matrix is iconic and awesome. It's able to have an easy to follow story that never gets dull. I wanted more! A.
