Review of The Matrix (1999) by Ian G — 07 Jul 2015
The movie has a very wierd beginning, but gets a lot better. From the point Lawrence Fishbourne enters to the point when Neo has just beaten Hugo Weaving this movie is amazing.
When Neo first beat Hugo Weaving it was one of the best feel good parts of a movie. However afterwards this movie gets really sour really fast. Hugo Weaving keeps regenerating while Neo keeps killing him. Each time it seems to undermine and ruin the part where Neo killed Hugo a Weaving the first time. It gets so ridiculous the next to last shot has Neo killing 3 Hugo Weavings by running through them.
I know I just dedicated more than half of my review to talk about the last 10 minutes of this movie. But that's because there are thousands of people out there talking about how amazing the Matrix is. There is an argument as to whether the franchise died in the second or third movie. I would say it died in the last 10 minutes of the first movie.
