Review of The Matrix (1999) by Frank D — 28 Dec 2015
Loaded high with clever ideas and thrills, this is one of the most intelligent blockbuster films of it's time, although not completely devoid of cliche. The Matrix mainly succeeds in having a constant sense of mystery, which is why I recommend watching it without it's sequels.
The sense of a small crew of people in the 'real world' fighting to salvage a person from 'the matrix', a computer simulation we all live within, is a compelling idea that is played to it's maximum and holds up well for it's age due to it's inventiveness.
