Review of The Matrix (1999) by Brian C — 05 Dec 2013
A classic. Despite a few story flaws and Keanu Reeves as the star, The Matrix is still one of the best sci-fi action films you could ask for. Any flaws it has is overshadowed by the fact that it's main goal is to be cool, and it succeeds on all counts like few movies ever can.
The out-there yet thought-provoking premise; the trenchcoats; the glasses; the guns; the anti-establishment philosophy; the attitude; everything about this movie simply rocks. So what if the dialogue is fifty percent crappy and fifty percent awesome? The movie is plain and simply cool.
The lobby shootout is still one of the most eye-popping action sequences ever filmed.
