Review of The Match Factory Girl (1990) by Carmen C — 28 May 2010
A lonely woman who lives with her detached mother and cruel step-father, with a boring routine job in a match factory.
She finally met a guy in a bar,they drink, they dance and stay overnight at the guy's expensive apartment. However the guy simply treated her as a prostitute, left $ and stay away from her in the next morning.
Then she found out that she got pregnant.She still tried to approach the guy but he just sent her a cheque for abortion.When she knows she got pregnant,there's no friends willing to share her troubles and worries and her parents just dumped her.
It's so realistic and cruel..The film shows us the hopeless world with no love. And eventually the gal decided to take revenge.....it was a dark story.
(Btw, the music plays an very important role thoroughout the film. It fits perfectly to the atmosphere and the emotion of the girl).
