Review of The Matador (2005) by Jeremy C — 07 Dec 2009
An odd but sincere friendship, some great emotional beats, and Brosnan turning in what is probably the best work of his career. A strange film, but it works like mad. The ending feels a tad abrupt, but that seems preferable to letting it wear out its welcome.
It strikes a fascinating tone that puts it in a sort of spiritual trilogy with GROSSE POINT BLANK and IN BRUGES.
