Review of The Matador (2005) by Jake D — 31 Aug 2010
It's incredibly funny, and Pierce Brosnan is fantastic. The rest of the cast is great as well. For as awkward as this movie can be it has quite a bit of heart. Brosnan plays a struggling hitman who has a chance meeting in a barin Mexico with Greg Kinnear who seems to be a struggling salesman. After about a day together they seem to become friends until Brosnan starts to act quite unapropriately, and Kinnear leaves. After a quick scene change it's about a couple of months later around the christmas season, and Brosnan shows up at Kinnear's door step possibly drunk and quite depressed. Kinnear invites him in, and he meets his wife who is played by Hope Davis.
Brosnan asks Kinnear to accompany him on his last hit, and Kinnear reluctantly accepts. They arrive in Tuscon, and after much struggle inside himself Brosnan with the help of Kinnear is able to pull off the job, and Brosnan and Kinnear arrive back in time for Kinnear to go with his wife to the cemetary. While Brosnan watches respectfully, and than walks away.
It's as I stated before really funny and full of heart. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.
