Review of The Master of Disguise (2002) by Garhett B — 03 Oct 2012
Hey, dummies - this movie was made for kids. Dana Carvey himself stated that the movie was essentially made to be a kids' movie. The folly of this movie is that it was a kids movie that wasn't clearly marketed as a kids movie, so people are judging it as a legit adult comedy.
It's pointless for adults to review a kids movie and call it bad for being "immature" or "sophomoric." Guess what? Kids love immature and sophomoric humor, so the movie does exactly what it set out to do - make kids laugh.
The movie was made as an excuse for Dana Carvey to do crazy characters that would make kids laugh. Every little kid that I know who watches this movie loves it. 4 stars - that's right, 4! Suck on that, pretentious critic types.
