Review of The Master (2012) by Mrarrowshooter — 24 Sep 2012

I really can't wrap my head around why people hated this movie so much. I think alot of it has to do with expectations. I personally didn't love There Will Be Blood, so I went into this with no expectations.

While it did have a few problems of its own, it was the most fantastic film-going experience I've had in a LOOOooong time. It doesn't have a cookie cutter narrative, and it certainly speaks in metaphors.

..lots of visual poetry and character development as metaphor. The narrative really exists inside the audience's mind. If you're not willing to think a little, you're missing out. I think American audiences are just a little too spoiled and ADD for this type of film in the 21st century.

Maybe I'm wrong. I just really want to understand what people hate about this movie.
