I have tasted the beauty of terror.

Juliana, her father, and her lover are captured by the evil Prince Prospero. Prince Prospero has sworn his soul to the devil and performs evil acts on his people. He offers to release Juliana but only if he can kill either her father or lover. She elects to go with him if she spares them both. She is beautiful so he takes her up on her offer; however, his life is flipped upside down shortly after she arrives to his castle.

?The day of their deliverance is at hand.?

Roger Corman, director of Bloody Mama, A Time for Killing, The Secret Invasion, The Wild Angels, The Raven, The Terror, and The Haunted Palace, delivers The Masque of the Red Death. The storyline for this picture is above average and contains elements of satanic worship combined with solid character development. The acting was marvelous for the content and includes Vincent Price, Hazel Court (The Terror), Jane Asher, and David Weston.

?Could such eyes have ever known sin??

?They will.?

My wife and I enjoy both Vincent Price and Roger Corman movies so we were excited to see this picture. While the majority of this film is mediocre, the conclusion is compelling and well delivered. Vincent Price delivers his character to perfection which makes the end fall perfectly into place. I recommend seeing this film if you are a fan of the genre or Vincent Price.

?Death has no master.?

Grade: C+.
