Review of The Masque of the Red Death (1964) by Colin F — 16 Oct 2010
Very memorable and bizarre film. Vincent Price is in his element as the evil Price Prosporo! It would be a very boring film without him! The story revolves around the mental Prosporo (Price) Holding a masque in his castle to protect his guests from The Red Death! Some really bizarre and memorable scenes including the scene where the dwarf sets the a man on fire in a monkey costume in the name of entertainment and the most bizarre and disturbing scene of where Price gets his guests to do really bad animal impressions â??Can you be a pig, be oneâ?? it goes on for ages! The ending is memorable to the dance of death! A good and different film for its time, very well made, well worth a look just for Vincent price performance alone.
