Review of The Masked Saint (2016) by Bret M — 08 Jan 2016
"The Masked Saint" is fun in a way that seems to confound cynical movie critics.
Positive without being preachy, and genuinely entertaining, this movie accomplishes what it sets out to be - entertainment from a faith-based worldview. It's not the sermon we've come to expect from most faith-based films, nor is it the morally bankrupt world of a brooding antihero we've grown so accustomed to from Hollywood. Just like the wrestling ring, there are good guys and bad guys and this film doesn't try to blend the two. It's straightforward good vs. evil in the way that traditional comic books and wrestling matches have always been.
In a world of moral relativism where the lines between good and bad are blurred and cynicism is mistaken for complexity, "The Masked Saint" is a breath of fresh air and a step in the right direction for faith-based entertainment. It's entertainment based in faith, not entertainment that's limited to that audience.
Great job to Warren Senada and the rest of the cast. We look forward to a sequel and hope to see many more family-friendly action movies to come.
