Review of The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932) by Sean C — 05 Apr 2008
One of the most crazed, outrageous, sadistic, sexist, racist, and bizarre pieces of B-Movie pulp ever to grace the silver screen (and I say all that with a tone of astonished admiration).
What's not to love about a movie that casts Boris Karloff in his first on-screen speaking role, as a fiendish Asian scholar (with a strange lisp) with a penchant for elaborate and sadistic torture devices, hell-bent on attaining the mask and sword from the tomb of Genghis Khan so he can rule the world and wipe the white devil from the face of it?
Make sure you get the DVD in the Warner Brothers Legends of Horror box set due to the fact that it is uncut (unlike every other home video release of this picture).
