Review of The Mask (1994) by Jacob B — 17 Jun 2018
The idiot plot is present here but that won't stop The Mask from being a '90s comedy classic. Jim Carrey shines as the zoot-suited live-action cartoon, Cameron Diaz (wait, Diaz looked incredibly attractive?) is a good love interest and most of the CGI still holds up well.
It should be noted that this was the earliest instances of CGI being used for comedic purposes. While some of the effects look a little off and outdated, most of it is still better than half of the CGI we get in big-budget effects spectacles these days.
The Mask isn't one of the greatest comedies ever, but the cartoony nature is what makes The Mask a '90s classic.
