Review of The Mask (1994) by Joshua E — 16 Jul 2011
I actually enjoyed this movie! I remember watching this with my grandmother. Jim Carrey pretty much owns the mask. When I look at Jamie Kennedy's adaptation, I just see how CGI and everything just changed for the worse! A fitting role for a fitting actor like Jim Carrey, a Joe Schmoe who finds a mask after mistakenly identifying it as a man in distress.
Once he wheres it, his whole life turns around, where he turns into this mystical swagger king. He is virtually untouchable, but once he gets mixed up in a beef with some gangsters, one of whome gains knowledge about the mask, it then turns into a struggle for power and infamy--something which that mask provides.
I can still see myself watching this when I get the chance to.
