Review of The Mask (1994) by Liam D — 22 Oct 2012
Ah the mid-nineties, back when Jim Carrey was still funny, slapstick was still "in" and Cameron Diaz was still oh so adorable. The Mask is a admirably funny, the perfect vehicle for Carrey to do his thing.
Whilst the plot is very ordinary it holds up surprisingly well. The visual effects are tidy (if not slightly overused), especially in the early days of CGI. It wouldn't have been possible without Carrey, but a respectable effort all the same.
