The Martian was fascinating when it was released as a book, and even more as a film. Because it's an experience, and by far the strongest space experience in existence. Sure you've got the overrated Gravity and even more overrated Avatar showing you the idea of it all, but how many films get you as close as The Martian does.
Everything, the effects, the acting, the story is near-perfect and placed together makes The Martian a legendary motion picture that doesn't settle for anything less than epic.
