Review of The Mark of Zorro (1940) by Mark W — 08 Dec 2007
Absolutely superb stuff. This film has everything that made the old swashbucklers great.
Power isn't quite as dashing as Flynn or Granger, but he plays the hero and the fop with equal skill. And was there ever a better villain than Basil Rathbone? Their duel (with sabres, which makes a nice change) is rattling fine stuff, with plenty of quips and broken furniture thrown in.
