Review of The Marine (2006) by Dan J — 11 Feb 2009
This movie has greatness, but fails to deliver with a solid ending. It's a supurbly directed action flick with good characters and good fighting (though it could have used more of both). It's amazing to watch, as each of the "acts" could easily have been given their own film (for instance, I'd like to see a movie just about the highway patrol car, or a movie just about crossing the swamp). The ending is way disappointing, and I think the wife could have been given a greater role besides being "baggage". Also, the hero could have been a tad bit more smart and given some good lines.
It's a great primer for would-be action directors though.
